In comparison, imagine if Perfect Cell was defeated after he self-destructed in Dragonball Z. While that was kind of funny, it does feel disappointing for that to be his end. After saying that Toffee was right about magic, Toffee turns and says, “Surprise!” similar to what he did when he told her to destroy her wand. The other is after Star decides to destroy magic and looks at a tapestry of her mom defeating Toffee. One is a scene where Glossaryck travels back and meets a younger Toffee, and then having Meteora blast Toffee with magic. Toffee makes two appearances for this final season, but they’re both lackluster.

So would the series give us one last look at our favorite reptilian monster? Yes, but not in the way in the way I was hoping. Kind of like the villain you think you’ve beaten, but it was all part of the bigger picture. Toffee was a great villain and gave off the impression that he always had a plan.

Toffee talked as if there was some master plan that we would find out about before everything was said and done, which had me excited. Toffee was right?īack in season 3, after Star defeated Toffee, he gave off the idea that this wasn’t the end. For that reason, this article will partly focus on the build-up to the end. We were asking questions like, “will Star and Marco finally get together?” and “will we see the return of Toffee before everything ends?” That makes our expectations higher, as we want those questions answered. We came into this season knowing it would be the last, so we were wondering how this would all end. When you’re talking about the finale, it’s important to remember the build-up to it. The Forces of Evil hold up? Did it bow out gracefully, or did it leave us feeling cheated? To answer that, we have to look at the series leading up to the finale. So with it being a year since it ended, how does the finale of Star vs. In other words, the destination needs to be worth the journey.

They need to tie up loose ends and leave the fan base feeling satisfied. However, the creators need to make sure the ending does multiple things. When it does become time to say goodbye, we can only hope that a show bows out gracefully as another takes its place. Now that I’ve had a year of reflection, it’s time to ask this about a series close to my heart. Some series have inspired me to become a writer, and I’m happy I got to be part of the experience when I would tune it to watch. It may be sad to see something we love go away, but it’s also the chance to go back and remember the fun times we had. Since a series can help bring people together and will help inspire the next generation of creators for better or worse, it’s easy to see why it would hurt for it to leave. Even if it’s time to say goodbye, fans will be heartbroken. A series ending is never easy to swallow for a fanbase.
